Fooien zijn betalingen die gasten doen bovenop de rekening, meestal als blijk van dank voor goede service. In Nederland zijn fooien gerechtelijk beschermd. Werkgevers delen niet in de fooien en "[d]e werkgever mag [..] nooit fooi inhouden", aldus FNV. Helaas gebeurt dit bij Conscious Hotels wel.

access will be granted to the total amount of withheld funds, a full refund of these amounts will be distributed to all employees, and all future tips will be allocated in full to the employees.
